I don't like to pay taxes get it off your chest thread!

@myself re #78

Make that YOUR…my vision gets wavy when I recount that story.

Anybody paying both the amt and the 3.8% obamacare investment tax?

^^ Many, many people. Plus the extra medicare tax.

I’m not aware of that tax - I’m just finishing my 116 page turbo tax filing and didn’t check to see if that is there.

AMT, and obamacare and extra medicare … and…losing personal exemptions and itemized deductions! Not me thankfully, but clients. As of 5 minutes ago, I have one personal and 3 corp returns left, 270 down  I can do this, I can do this.

For the K1 haters, I can say that in 30 years I have never seen an IRS notice where K1s were cross-checked with the 1040s. Let’s hope this is not the first year.

where on my tax return would I see the extra medicare tax?

So the extra Medicare tax is new? I saw it when I was going through the forms before I submitted. Both of us max out on FICA each year, but I thought Medicare was on every dollar, hence the surprise.

“where on my tax return would I see the extra medicare tax?”

That Obamacare present will be on form 8959, Additional Medicare tax. We had the pleasure of paying $2500 in 2013, and it will go up for 2014. If you look on your form 1040, the amount will be on the second page, line 60.

I’m glad we don’t do our own taxes. I don’t even know about this stuff - ignorance is bliss!

$3000 Obamacare tax for me, tacked on to the 80% increase in my health insurance since that wonderful product came to market.

The additional Medicare tax ( a whopping 0.9%) only kicks in for a married-filing-jointly couple with earned income of $250K.
Cry. Me. A. River.

Just wanted to mention that a friend just tried to file and was rejected, because a fraudulent claim had already been made.
She has tried to get through to them all day.
I think ID theft was mentioned on another thread. Apparently by someone who was more on top of things than I am.
Crossing fingers mine doesn’t get rejected.

“Cry. Me. A. River”

Ya know, this is the, “I don’t like to pay taxes get it off your chest thread”, so if you don’t like hearing people complaining about paying taxes…well, you’re kind of at the wrong place.

Maybe you can start a “I’m sick of hearing people complaining about paying taxes thread”.

dstark started this thread so he didn’t have to read about people complaining about their taxes on other threads. It is almost April 15th, so there’s plenty of misery coming :((

Medicare tax is 3.8% on capital gains as well. Not asking anyone to cry me a river–simply pointing out the ridiculous programs that raise rates and code complexity unnecesarily. AMT is another great example.

…

Sorry busdriver11…guess those complaining about paying taxes have too danged much to begin with and are thus not a group which deserves sympathy. However, if you’re getting your hair checked by the TSA…now THAT’s a problem worth crying a river over.

^^ That’s a new one, getting your hair checked by the TSA? Sounds ominous, and irritating. But a lot less irritating than doing taxes.

I guess I must be privileged. I get to use KCM (known crewmember). Show my ID, they check the list, and I walk on by without having to take anything off, or getting any part off my body scanned. Hallelujah! My body doesn’t need any more radiation, stress, or waiting in line than it already gets.

Dietz199, seriously…

bus, not to derail this specific thread… I’d rather have the IRS pawing through my pockets than the TSA sticking their dirty gloves into my hair and asking me to remove the shirt worn over a bra (ewwww…)

Efiled. Fingers crossed.

TSA is not part of this thread…

Start another thread…

In case you missed it… it is already going here:
