Professional, smart people (like those in Stanford admissions) do not write passively, as you just did. They write actively.</p>

<p>Not “it is with regret that I write,” but simply “I write.” Not “we will have to rescind,” but simply and directly “we are rescinding.”

<p>First of all, have you worked in the Stanford admissions office? Second, on Stanford’s rejection letter, it says “it is with regret.” Try asking someone who has a Stanford rejection letter.</p>
