"i got into penn!"

Hahahhaahhahhaha ^^

Kelloggss he has already gone to uni of wash! why are yu chancing now! No offence but it is pretty hilarious. :P

“sat scores r low (2080 for ivy? come on…)” …wow kelloggs that’s really rude. My friend got into Penn with 1940 SAT’s as a questbridge finalist, meaning she got a full ride for four years.

There are so many people that think Ivy’s and top schools look at your SAT’s and go “Oh, nope this ones out, he/she didn’t even hit the 2000 mark.” The test is ONE PART of the application. There are sooo many things they take into consideration, and it’s just frustrating when people focus so much on that.

Just wanted to point it out, so the people like me who don’t have super high SAT scores and are aiming Ivy can actually read College Confidential and not feel inferior to anyone else.

sinceredesichick, the OP is white. 2080 would be very low for a white applicant to Penn. Questbridge is a different world. A URM who gets annointed by Questbridge cannot be compared to the OP. You’re correct when you say Penn takes things other than SAT scores into consideration, but a sub-2000 for a white or asian would always be a huge shadow in his or her application, and would make it extremely difficult to be accepted into an Ivy, assuming of course that they are not a recruited athlete or the child of an important legacy or famous person.

Sinceredesichick: Aren’t you also a Questbridge applicant with SAT scores below 2000?

I get what your saying Old College Try. My friend was white though  I think her hook was the story that she has, you know. She’s been through a lot with family issues and financial difficulties throughout her life, but has done very well academically despite that. Questbridge allowed kids like her to show the other side of themselves and how they succeeded academically despite challenges at home - this is done through their uni

And yup, I am a Questbridge applicant with the quite average score of 1310/1960. I’m also Indian.

I feel so pressured to have to live up to the whole high math score with the SAT’s haha. I’m just really bad at testing. If you looked at my grades/rank/ap testing and everything, i don’t think you would expect me to have a low scores on the SAT’s.

Blah, I guess all I’m trying to say is people shouldn’t be discouraged from applying to these types of schools because of one factor like the SAT. If you really have everything else to make up for it (like she did) then go ahead.

As for me, I don’t know if I have enough to make up for it. But I have absolutely nothing to lose by trying. Nothing at all, considering Questbridge got me waivers for the CSS and the app.

sinceredesichick, the vast majority of us think we’re common and everyone else is amazing. I know I do. I’d bet you’re as amazing as is your friend. Good luck!

Haha, thanks for the support Old College Try. I let you know how it works out. 31 days to go!

oops! i guess the student doesn’t need anyone chancing him/her
