Sorry to butt in, but i thought the TV show was WAYYYY better than the movie. I laughed til i couldn’t breath. Also, in the movie when the group goes to that Vogon planet, in that office you can see the origional Robot from the TV show. Mindless info for today. . .

Your waiting is finally over! Congratulations!

I really felt like God was shining on us yesterday even before we heard. I know that sounds wierd but yesterday morning I wasn’t even worrying about anything and then… we heard. I always worry about everything!

He was, no doubt about it! ;)

ps…the job of a parent is to worry, worry and worry- it’s in the fine print!

Congratulations Oregon Mom! You and Jake must be psyched! :-)

Anyone have any ideas on what percent of the appo have been sent out? I went to NASS and CWV however, three people from my town have already got appo’s.

The majority of candidates receive appointments in April. Try deep breathing…waiting must be excruciating but most are still waiting.

How do you know this to be true?

Some data from 4-year averages (USNA Admissions for Class of 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007) as of middle of last week in March: 933 LOA’s, 884 Fully Qualified Offers (appointments), and 381 Acceptances.

So, at least for years past…< 2/3 of the appointment offers are SENT by the END of March.

“Some data from 4-year averages… as of middle of last week in March: 933 LOA’s…” dad2b2010

933 LOAs???

letters of assurance, basicly they are waiting on medical to clear, or waiting on a nomination to be approved.

I know what an LOA is, but I was questioning the data.

There’s no way that can be right. There aren’t even that many who come to the Academy straight from High School. From what I understand, LOAs to college students are very rare, as we have to wait until USNA receives the 1 semester transcript…usually January. And from the '09 stats, nearly a third had some secondary education prior to their appointment. Then there’s another third from NAPS…I don’t believe they get LOAs either.

This leaves only about 400 midshipman who come straight to the Academy from high school…no way did they give out 933 LOAs.

Well, that is straight from the academy. Don’t forget…many LOA’s go to people who don’t even nearly complete the application! It’s not 993 out of 1500…it’s more like 933 out of 10,000 or so.

Also, I would guess that LOA’s have been curtailed in recent years. Another possibility is that direct CO’s (such as my son’s and others on this forum), may actually be coded as LOA’s even though everything else was complete by the time the Scholastic record was reviewed (no sense in sending an LOA if every thing is done and they want you). Just a guess of course.

Don’t hear much on this board the last two weeks as far as new appointments or rejection letters. Is this a quiet period before they send out the last batch of LOA’s?

They say you will hear by April 15. I will be in the “at large pool”. Do they wait to send these in April or March or who knows?

This waiting is painful!

They are done sending out LOA’s since all the nominations are in. I received my USNA appointment 3/3 and the letter was dated and mailed 2/28.

Ah, yes… “Hurry up and wait.”

The Prime Directive of the U.S. Military beauracracy. :/

Hang in there. It will come.

Not necessarily done with LOA’s, because medical status could still be holding up appointments and they want good candidates to know they are still wanted if they can square away medical. For everything else, I think the deadlines are all passed though.

The wait can be difficult at best. Some appointments can come very late. Remember, even if a candidate accepted an appointment, they can still have a change of heart and back out prior to I-Day. In that case, if you are the next in line in that congressional district slate of candidates, you will get a call and an offer of an appointment. I know several Mids that were in that very situation. In 2004, 9 candidates were called AFTER I-Day and given the chance to join the class a few days late. Realize that all of these late appointees had received a rejection letter at some point. Hopefully, you will all get good news by April 15! :)

Are you serious? How bizarre!

I’d have thought the whole I-Day thing was inviolate…
