Question for everyone: What would everyone surmise is the number of 1600s acheived by students each year? What about 1500+? It seems like everyone I know and the people on these boards fit in that category - but think about National Merit. Only 16,000 and the cut-off is 14-something.

i think every year about 500+ get 1600 in ONE SITTING. If you take into account “fake” 1600s, the ones that have two sittings combined, the totals would run up to the thousands, I bet. Maybe low 1000s or high 1000s, at most.

as far as 1500+, several thousand, i bet. Maybe even 10000 or more?

i believe its about 600-700 ppl per year, out of who knows how many…

that was a great show!!!

I am almost sure you will get in. My son is a junior at Stanford with similar (but not quite as impressive) high school academic record and he worried like you are when he was applying. Probably a lot of the ones they reject with 1600 do not have top grades or are not involved with many activities. Stop worrying and relax! (I know this is easier said than done!!)

Around 900 single sitting 1600s in the most recent year CB posted stats. I think with combined 1600s (and 1600s earned in earlier years) it’s something like 2000 for each senior class. There was a stat like that given at a Harvard info session i went to a while back…

Bub-I’m applying Stanford RD also, and my stats are eerily similar to yours in places (but completely different in others). PM me if you want to compare.

haha he goes to wake forest now! i got mail from there and saw him on the back cover! lol
