I agree with @HeyItsNick. I never got an AA degree. If it’s easy to do it’s ok, but it often requires extra courses. It won’t really affect your UC application one way or the other. An AA degree does benefit a CSU, I believe, although I also got admitted without one. IGETC and major course completion are the key.
