I just got accepted.

Yeah I got rejected too.
1960 SAT I, 730 SAT II World and 800 Math Level 2
UC GPA 3.68
It is what it is, but I haven’t lost all hope, I got waitlisted in a UC and accepted in another UC.

I have been following this thread for days, and my kid didn’t even apply for UCI, but my other one may in two years. I have been captivated by your dreams of getting into this school and am so sad for those of you who are waitlisted or rejected.

This does not define you. Undergrad doesn’t count for **** anyway. It’s grad school that really matters. My husband went to community college, then to Fresno State for undergrad. He went on to earn a PhD in chem and later a post doc at University of Rochester in NY.

Revel in your sorrow today, but know that with all of your histories of hard work you have opportunities in the future that will overshadow your rejection from the UC’s.

I love what someone said about the UC admissions being a bi-polar toddler.

I’m fearful for my sophmore-high test scores and grades and zero EC’s. But maybe UC just isn’t for her.

Look at it this way. You just got dumped by a bad boyfriend/girlfriend. It hurts now, but you will meet something better that appreciates your talents.

Good luck to all of you. You are so deserving.

The whole UC acceptance system is just a little bit random I think. My friend who had 2 D’s in AP eng. last year got accepted to UCSB. While others w/o D’s didn’t get in.
I got rejected by UCI today.
SAT: 1880
UC GPA: 3.86

Rejected: UCI, UCSD, Cal Poly Slo
Waitlisted: UCD
Accepted: UCSB (Lucky one?)

@ Mimi thanks for the encouragement. Advice to your son or daughter: don’t put too much hope in the financially failing uc system. Apply OOS and privates for sure.

Totally agree with Mimi. Well said! There are many paths to the future. Many very successful and brilliant people start in the local CCs.

And privates are an option worth considering for those of you reading this thread for next year and the future. Merit scholarships for some of your stats here would be generous. We never thought we could afford private, but son will likely be attending one and b/c of the merit package, it will be a lot cheaper for us than a UC, as odd as that seems.

i got rejected from uci :(

So true Gladiatorbird. I got into Chapman and with the merit scholarships and grants they have offered me, it is less expensive for me to go to Chapman than any state or UC school. Crazy.

Rejected. I’m screwed…on two Waitlists and not accepted anywhere. CC here I come.

rejected. lol.
I guess I would have to go to a cc then.

@calimali
you don’t think people like us didn’t do any extra curriculars? I get that you worked and played some sports but I played sports and did lot of community service too. “So I didn’t always have time to study or do homework in order to gain that 2400” I didn’t have time also but I made time for me to study. That’s just an excuse. I took 6APs classes until now and taking 4 as a senior. Also you have a okay GPA so I can understand how you got in but, some have really low gpa and sat scores and still get in.

@gorehpakoreh
did you get accepted?

REJECTED
ACCEPTED
30 ACT
Over 200 hours of community service
Great ec’s
UC GPA 4.0

REJECTED*** not accepted, definitely :frowning:
i guess i can’t go there. i really loved this school.

I’m appealing the s h i t out of this.

I think that anyone who even has a shred of new/compelling info should appeal. You can appeal even if you are waitlisted. At least someone else will look at your app that maybe didn’t see it before. If they are going to reject you-go down swinging and make them work for it! lol

^^^What MIMI SAID!!!

I’m gonna appeal although I’m pretty sure they will reject me again. It’s worth a try and as MIMI said, lets make them work to reject us all. Those inefficient government workers…

I am a dad of a hs kid and I have been a silent observer of this thread for quite a few days now. While its disappointing to see some of the well qualified kids were not accepted, it’s very very pleasing to see how most of you are handling this by demonstrating an amazing level of maturity - a maturity level much higher than the folks that designed the UC admission system. As some one here said, ( as cliche as it might sound), you guys will get an opportunity very soon for you to be successful!! and soon enough, you’ll all sit together for a drink one night, shaking your heads and laugh about this!! I wish nothing but the very best to all of you.

i’m gonna appeal too…if anything i just want to annoy the counselors and make em do some work…where do we appeal?

I Got REJECTED with a 2250 SAT and 4.4 Weighted GPA and 4 years Varsity Sport and president/founder of some clubs… what the heck is going on here… Also I got into UCSD and UCSB and rejected from UCLA… so confused right now o.O

I should have applied to some cal states ;_;

I’m gonna appeal to make those people suffer.

And to you know, try again ahahaha
