I love texting

True story- a fellow employee dropped his phone in the toilet in the mens room the other day- he was texting …all the other employees in our department had a great laugh over that one… :)

Bumping this thread with a question.
College aged son has never been a heavy texter - usually does about 400- 450 per month. Then S got gf and his texting skyrocketed (2,000 last month!) Didn’t say anything to me about his increased use…I found out by looking at the bill. $150 in extra charges!
He says he told D. D doesn’t recall (although it’s possible he did say something). Anyway, D doesn’t pay his cell phone bill.
I will upgrade the plan to avoid these charges going forward.
But should I make him pay the extra charges? His funds are low so I’m thinking maybe some special home projects this summer.

We have an understanding that if DS exceeds the plan limits, he picks up the remaining amount of the bill. What better way for him to learn than to pay it out in installments?! I might forgo charging interest on the installment plan, but that, too, would be a good lesson.

Young Love! I can’t imagine texting anybody 2,000 times!

If he doesn’t have money I’d make him work it off… somehow… that’s a lot!

I did the same thing last month on my phone, and I don’t know how! I have the 1500 a month plan… and i wound up with 1800 some texts (an extra 57 dollars on my bill - 20 cents each!!) I paid it and upgraded to the 5000 text plan. I have never came close to going over before but I would rather pay the extra 5 dollars just in case. Plus now I don’t have to worry about it.) I very rarely text when i am home… every once and awhile I do… but I mostly text at work… I’m dating someone in the office and a lot of times we will make plans back and forth that way… it’s much more discrete then going and talking to each other and having the entire office know our business… (you know how office gossip is!) The only thing I can think is maybe we had more dates last month then usual, lol!

My mom and dad do texting too. My little sister turned them on to it. I get a LOT from my mother. That may have also contributed to last month! They both spell out words one letter at a time… whereas I use the word method where you just spell out the word… I don’t know what that’s called but most phones have it. My phone now does have a qwerty keyboard if I open it up… but i rarely use that.

fendergirl… My H and I text my son too…but I’m afraid we only contribute about 25 to the 2000 total. I have a BB so it’s easy with the qwerty… .I had a really tough time with a regular cell phone.
I will likely make him work it off…but I feel a little bad because I never directly addressed this issue with him (if you go over, you will pay). a Didn’t think I needed too! Live and learn…

i meant my mom may have contributed to mine! she goes crazy! :)
