I need a 2400...

@shiomi, i’ve been consistently getting 760s-800 on math sections, not just the may one, that was just an example, that i couldve done better.
im saying its really NOT possible to get 800 before u 're even in the 700s, and not saying he needs to prep for others

lol. A 2400 is a combination of:

-Test-taking ability (trainable through practice tests)
-Innate intelligence (untrainable…sorry to say)
-Luck. Lots of luck. Everyone who stands a chance of getting a 2400 can get slipped up by a word they didn’t know.

Aiming for a 2400 is wise, for if you fall short you still go far. Assuming you will get one is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Study like hell and take the test like 5 times… Eventually you will get lucky on the sections, but maybe not enough to get a 2400.

dude, obsessing over a 2400 is kinda sad. It proves that you need this so much and you have nothing else going for you. If this is not the case, I suggest you focus your attention on something more validating. 2200+ will get you the same places as a 2400. What you should focus on is school, some ECs, a life, and something other than being a prestige whore.

Choose only the right answers. It’s easier than it seems.

Because the answer is right in front of you.

'Cept for those damn Free Response questions. And that essay. shakes fist

No. :expressionless:

Honestly, if you seriously want a 2400, you have to be able to answer every single question on the test, and then be so familiar with the test itself that you pretty much can almost predict what they’ll ask. But why would you need a 2400? You don’t. Based on your practice test scores it’s going to take a lot of studying, practice tests, and then some chance as well. It’s really a question of whether or not you will get the 2400. And the least amount of effort will still be, trust me, a lot.

IMHO 2350+ = 2400 to adcoms… 2300+ is good enough for any school, so there is no reason to even go for a 2400. Its more of something that happens by chance.

Thanks guys…

consider it done.

“2200+ will get you the same places as a 2400.”

Hahahahaha. No. Look at Princeton’s admissions data for a great counterexample to this.

Yeah, for some reason, Princeton really, really likes 2400s.
Even from applicants who don’t give a **** about it, and are just throwing an application there.

That would assume someone cares about attending Princeton…

^ Whether they want to attend Princeton or not doesn’t matter. Their data directly refute the claim that 2200+ is the ‘same’ as 2400, or will get you in the same places (i.e. is directly comparable). The reality is that 2200 won’t keep you out. It is not a score that will get you in anywhere.

Lol, who cares, it’s useless.

Also…-1 in math CAN still lead to an 800. I can attest from experience.

-1 math yes can get u a 800, but its really rare though! i hope this oct will be -1 = 800 =D
usually -1 is already 780, sometimes 770 even. rarely 790, 800 more rare lol

Break into the CB vault. You have to go through the electric fence, the laser head sharks, ex-special forces security guards, and the fingerprint-retinal scan lock.

^ its not as hard as it seems.

lol, you’re so obsessed about the SAT that you’re forgetting all of the other aspects of your application. at Harvard for example, it says on collegeboard.com that the SAT scores are only considered. They are not top of the list.

Nobody can be sure to get 2400, it takes some luck as well. there’s 1/5 chance of getting a question right just by guessing. There’s about a hundred or so questions, so i guess thats the same as winning a few lotteries in a row. Since you can be sure to get some questions right, your lottery chances improve tremendously. I guess if its your lucky day, anything can happen.

As the NY lottery would say.
hey, you never know.

“Nobody can be sure to get 2400, it takes some luck as well.”

Not necessarily true. Someone who answers all questions by guessing (i.e., random guessing) may have had passages that were easy for him, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have scored 2400 on another test.

Sorry kid, you’re simply not 2400 material ;)

An effortless 2400 would be the result of an extensively intense academic career (which you haven’t had, or else you’d at least be at a 2150) or sheer genius. It means scoring higher than 99.9% of all other test-takers.

Get realistic. You probably will not get into a single Ivy League school. You can sure as hell try and prove all of us wrong, but it will require an extreme effort. Now, that effort may be memorizing a test formula, or sharpening some “skills” but a formidable effort notwithstanding.
