I need a down-to earth talk about life as an engineering student.

Speaking of sound engineers, I’ve heard that’s a pretty vocational job. U start from the bottom of the ladder in the theatre (for eg) scene, going on Starbucks runs, and eventually work your way up to control the entire console. No typical academic college will prepare u for that job. A vocational arts tech degree will prepare u halfway, at best. You gotta know the theatre situation firsthand to be successful.

And this job requires internal talent. Like a chemical flavourist. You have it or you don’t.

What is your perception of sound (ok, audio) engineers?
