I want to live the life of a millennial

That was my 20’s. Move on a whim. Live in fun places for young people-Madison, Austin, LA, Boulder, Chicago. All my needed stuff fit in my car.

I read somewhere that somebody alive today is going to live to 150. Might as well have some fun in your 20’s. :)

Yes. They will live til 150. Impoverished if they retire too early. Lol. Better start to plan now!!!

I don’t think it even occurs to my kids to be pessimistic. They seem confident they will be happy, successful and well off. Why blame or begrudge others for perceived loss of jobs or government benefits, they are looking at their peers, and things look good to them. Of course, I hope that reality never hits them in the face.

My kids aren’t even slightly pessimistic. They pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, and do quite well.

But, “the life of a milenial” is not the life of my kids who are extremely fortunate.

Romani is telling another story, which is more the “norm.” If we don’t recognize that? We are remiss.

Ah yes, that’s true. But I have complete confidence that Romani will be very successful, and running the country some day.

you and me both, busdriver.

Also, it’s our best hope!

A friend of mine wrote me yesterday that she is thankful that she still hit a ball, dive on a court, and tie her shoes. I wrote her back that I was thankful that I could still be hit by a ball, lie on the court, and only wear slip-ons and sandals.

^^Oh God, I hope you’re at least wearing a little more than that!

Mini, I am not quite where you are on the tennis court but I am getting close. Moving more to the left everyday. ;)

I am. I am thinking about what have been saying all these years.

"^^Oh God, I hope you’re at least wearing a little more than that!"

Lol

Oh God please don’t put me in charge o.O

Please do…if not, who else is going to step up? More moronic unethical power hungry bozos like we have now? You’re nominated!

Yes romani; if you have not learned this already, it has been said that the reward for hard work is MORE hard work.

And my 20’s in the 80’s were SO not carefree! I didn’t even finish “school” until I was 30, then had to do my time in the military. I suppose the military was one way to travel.

^^Yeah, shrinkrap, but space A in the back of a C-130 isn’t so luxurious! And these kids think flying coach is bad…

I mean, I don’t think I’m really representative of my generation. I honestly don’t know too many people of my background that are where I’m at. I consider myself very fortunate in many ways even if I didn’t have a safety net to fall back on and had to work more than the “average” student. I don’t necessarily think everything happens for a reason but I absolutely believe in not dwelling on the negatives. Life is farrr too short to think about what could’ve or should’ve been. Do I wish I could travel now? Absolutely. It’s a life my sister leads- she is constantly going abroad, but the tradeoff is that she doesn’t have insurance and just had to deal with a NASTY bout of strep throat that she couldn’t afford to take care of. A surgery like the one I just faced would have ruined her financially and her credit. I, OTOH, pay for my insurance and paid for the surgery from my savings. I could’ve taken that money and traveled but to me, having that financial cushion is so much more satisfying than a week in the Bahamas (and hey, that’s what my honeymoon is for, right? ).

I also choose not to dwell on what one generation did right or wrong. What’s done is done and I’d rather look towards the future- with facts rather than rhetoric. I’ve been biting my tongue about the SS statements on here and I promise not to turn political :).

I couldn’t be a leader because I have a heck of a hard time compromising. It’s a character flaw. Even listening to some politicians makes my skin crawl (both parties… it’s issue-based rather than party based). I’d have to be a dictator to have any chance of being a good leader (I swear I’d be an ethical one though :stuck_out_tongue: !)

I also could not, in a million years, survive the military. My butt is far too lazy for that.

^But see, that sounds like the way some people up taking responsibility without taking authority. Might has well have authority.

There is another saying, but I can’t remember it exactly; something like if the car is careening down the mountain, I want to be the one driving.

Maybe it’s just me. Or maybe it WAS just me. At this point I’m fine heckling the driver from the back seat.

I’m sorry, shrink… I don’t understand what you said :/

Fixed it, but maybe it’s not any better.

Probably just me.

Never mind.

I understand what you mean, shrinkrap. I’m with you there. Heckling away.

Romani, I can’t find a politician that doesn’t make my skin crawl. Not a single one!

Maybe after you finish grad school, get some job experience under your belt…before kids, if you decide to have them, you can have that break to go and travel. Nothing like it!
