I will be raising money for a free health care clinic in my city.

Again, I think it’s GREAT when people can be hooked up with services already available, rather than re-inventing something, or diluting the efforts of doctors already trying to do the right thing. A one day clinic would not make make sense for me in my field, since identifying a problem and not fixing it would open me up to liability or abandonment. Since I am self-employed, I try to avoid this scenario. The usual medical problems, other than acute trauma, tend to chronic. A one time problem MIGHT be solved with education, but if a prescription is involved, insurance/paying for it, is again a problem. Even if doctors are willing to volunteer their time, they have to think about what their med mal would cover. If they are employed by some one else, their malpractice would not cover, unless the employer ( i.e. Kaiser) was involved as well.

I know organizations that do free, one day “screenings”
