Idea for dorm furniture: what do you think? (long)

allie sorry…

In other words, I said that I was curious to see just how many whiny b.itches there were out there (not that this site is necessarily a good figure…but its an idea) and how they would react.

Earlier, I had a few people saying that they would think I’m a unibomber, psychotic, that I need help, and that they would kick me out of their dorm asap.

Katho11: at this point, I dont even care about the privacy thing since it is what people were creeped out the most about. Just Picture a bunkbed but without the bed or guardrails http://www.originalfurnitureplans.com/furniture/bed/loft/bed2.JPG

kind of like that, but with the bed on bottom (as I would sit on it while using the desk), no guardrails, and locking cabinets as well as shelves.

also, it would only be between 4.5 and 5.5 feet tall

If this acctually occured I’d probably be confused upon first seeing the box, then thoroughly amused when I realized what its purpose was. I’d ask you if you had an infectious disease or something, then I’d ask if I could have guys over while you were in your box. Then I’d leave the room and crack jokes with my parents. Then I’d go make other friends.

The above plan isn’t bad, if you college permits it.

Ha, I was one of them, but I was honestly exaggerating. I would definitely think the box was weird…not going to lie…but I wouldn’t actually write you off based only on that.

Wouldn’t the desk get in the way while you were sleeping? Would it fold up?

That could be pretty cool.

Ah. Well, to be fair, I would be really confused if I walked into someone’s dorm room and there was a big wood box around one of the beds. If you’re doing something so outside of the norm you have to expect that people will be curious about a person who thinks to do such things.

Unibomber might be a hyperbole, though.

I was in the process of editing my post to say that the desk ends would not come over the bed, but the thing had some kind of error…

I might have a few flip down things, but they require support, so I probably cant get away with a lot

You’ve done got me interested in this thing. I might draw something up to show you for ideas…but I may not have time, though, since I’m gonna be out of town all weekend.

I just think… it would be a little unhealthy to lock yourself up in a box - especially with black lights? I mean, it’s like… living in a box. How could you live in a box without going stir crazy or something?
I dunno, besides the fact that it would be kind of weird, I doubt it would be comfortable or fun

As far as trash/laundry goes, on the side opposite the desk, the 1’ wide side, I’d have 2 small flip up lids, one leading to the laundry bag, and the other to a small trash bag. I’d pull either one up through the lid, and thered be a trash can/hamper holding either bag in place.

dawn: I’d have regular flourescent lights as well as the black lights. I wouldn’t have them on constantly either.

now you can invent me a lazy-boy/toilet/fridge/computer desk i’ll be golden. i’ll never have to leave my chair.

eh, I dont know about all that

“I’m just kind of curious at this point as to how many “oh my god her furniture looks ■■■■■■■■ f.uck I’m gonna die lets go threaten to comitt suicide so we get her kicked out,” whiny b.itches there are out there.”

It’s got nothing to do with someone else being a whiny *****, but rather that they’re just creeped out by their roommate living in a fortress.

…get over it

and it obviously does considering that its not against school policy, so there is nothing wrong with it.

She can make of it what she wants, I’m only willing to compramise so much.

Question…do you have to actually use the school’s bed or will they let you move it out?

This is really the funniest thing I’ve ever read on CC.

Kimba- I totally agree. It’s definitely up there.

I have to use the schools bed. The only storage that I have is my closet…I can fit my desk in there, but not my bed (obviously)

I have no problem with using it…I can get around having to attach stuff to the bed, and I know the exact dimensions, so its not a problem

Eh, well that pretty much kills the thing I have drawn up.
