It’s amazing how different we all are with regard to temperature preferences. I would be miserable in those warm houses and many would be miserable in my cool one. I hate to pay any more than absolutely necessary to the oil company - just on principle. My D loves to have the house warm and complains while she is here over breaks. I don’t have much sympathy I’m afraid - my answer is to tell her to add more clothes.

At the moment, my home office is around 45 degrees. I’m bundled up here thinking about the ceramic heater at son’s apartment. I was thinking of making a trip over to LL Bean for fleece-lined jeans.

Maybe it’s what we get used to? I went next door for coffee the other day and after an hour of chatting, I had to take my sweater off. On the other hand, I think 64 is a bit chilly so after this wonderful thread, I decided on 66 during the day. I still like it cold at night. I think it’s at 58.

We keep the thermostat at about 68 when we’re up and 64 in the night. Husband and son would set it 3 to 5 degrees colder to save fuel and would be fine with a cooler house, but I am always cold. As I am sitting here, I am wearing Uggs and a down vest over the long sleeve t and sweater that I wore with black dress pants to work today. I have a warm pair of leggings on under the black dress pants (my office is cold). I’m still feeling chilled; it’s damp here. I was just thinking of pulling a polar fleece throw over my lap. :o

I have to wear short sleeve to the office in a winter to be able to cool down if it gets to hot, otherwise I just keep my office sweater on if temp is OK. I have to wear skirts in a summer, I cannot tolerate it in pants, way too hot. Feel sorry for guys, for not having this option. These are my techniques for tolerating office temperature wich is usually higher than at home.

How does this relate to providing information about applying to college? I thought that was the purpose of this website? Will someone start posting cookie recipes next?

That’s why it’s called “Parent Cafe.” We have drinks here, and sometimes if we are lucky some cookies are also passed around.

Definitely all sorts of great recipes will be posted in the cafe, along with appliance recommendations and every sort of non-college related subject! But, take heart, our Cafe posts do not count toward our member total posts, only college related ones count ;)

BCEagles - now 45 is lower than I want to go. I am in my home office in my basement and I have an electric heater there for my feet and hands. I hate having cold feet. I go to bed with those little footie things that are filled with flax and herbs that you heat in the microwave. I love those things. As long as my feet are warm, I’m good to go.

“Will someone start posting cookie recipes next”.

mmmmmmm WARM cookies please. It’s cold in Southern California today!

Time2- Did you miss the thread about what women over 50 should wear in order to look “age appropriate” but still “stylish” and “not like their daughters”?
