if you get into wes, what major will you choose?

triple-majoring is ridiculous. there is almost no legit reason to do it and, even when feasible, ELIMINATES almost all flexibility from your schedule.

even double-majoring seriously reduces your amount of choice-- the fewest number of courses a major requires at wesleyan is 9, and this goes well up into the teens, depending on the department. so trying to complete two majors plus geneds, out of 32 classes required to graduate, you have precious few free-choice slots left.

i’ve seen a lot of prefrosh on here saying they’re going to double-major. for some people, this is a great and logical choice. for most others, it does nothing other than give you less freedom in selecting courses unrelated to your major.

don’t let anyone convince you that double-majoring is somehow better than single. i will have a much better wes education with my single major than many of my double-majoring friends. i’ve gotten to do many more cool classes while they’ve been stressing about scheduling in all of their requirements.
