A local company left a business card on my door offering free estiments. We still do business with them.
With regard to 3bm103’s post about “Were the guys,” and with apologies to the song writer: They’re not the guys that they once were, but they’re as good once as they ever were."

Just reviewing a legal instrument for a client. The instrument was prepared by an attorney."…is not the property of me and my spouse."
At least they didn’t say “Is not the property of myself and my spouse”.
I applied for a position once at a large urban public university in the College of Education. Throughout the college website, the word university was spelled uninveristy. After I didn’t get the job, I emailed the Dean to suggest that some editing was needed. She didn’t respond. I didn’t email for sour grape reasons, I just felt bad for urban public educators who have a hard enough time already. Fortunately the changes were made.
Edited to add that there was no address for a webmaster, otherwise I would have contacted that person instead.
Getting back to the original post:
The use of “They’re” instead of “There” isn’t the only issue here. The sentence also doesn’t make sense as written. The number of survivors isn’t going to increase. Dead people don’t magically come back to life. What may increase is the number of survivors who have been found or identified.
So the sentence really should say something like “Twenty-eight survivors have been located so far.”
When leaving the airport in Pittsburgh, my son pointed out a grammatical mistake in one of the permanent signs. Truly, it’s turned him off to that city.
