Poetsheart: the antithesis of PCC is not Wesleyan. It’s the Duke lacrosse team.

When one in four college women are raped… when self-defense courses are necessary for your well-being… when one in five teenages has an STD… when underage drinking deaths are common and underage drinking is a way of life… when 1.5 million women per year get abortions… when 1/3 of children are born to unwed mothers… when 40-50% of men cheat on their wives… when pot, cocaine, heroin, and ecstacy are common in college campuses… when sex is expected on the third date… when high schools have metal detectors, shootings, and drugs…

we give PCC and their ilk a raison d’etre.

I don’t think many people understand how sickening liberal the modern college scene is. The liberals have complained incessantly about the values of the conservatives and have worked to extinguish those values from modern life. Many should be extinguished - homophobia and sexism being among them - but liberals have not offered any replacement. The resulting moral vacuum needs to be filled with clearly articulated values, grounded in compassion and human dignity. That hasn’t happened. The liberal movement has left us with job opportunities for women and a society that best resembles the Roman Empire shortly before its collapse: without legal, societal, or internal restrictions on behaviour; a society of indulgence, gluttony, and excess; a society without a vision and without grounding.

Our country will be a better place once the so-called liberals espouse and practice their ideals. (Note that this doesn’t happen when they want to tax other people.) I would bet almost anything that CityGirl’sMom, as much as she’s talked about how there is nothing about service on the PCC website, has not, herself, given her time to the community recently. Live and practice strong moral values - whatever form they may take - and PCC will be obsolete.

Not that I have to explan myself to anyone, but here goes:

Project Homeless Connect
Beach Cleanups
Dog fostering
My Ds School
Little Childrens Aid- raising money for family shelters
Cook two meals a month for a shelter, to feed 30 people for a meeting
NERT Training for emergencies
Red Cross Certified
A political campaign
and more
I won’t even go into the fundraising, and the volunteering on a small ranch for rescue horses

You, aries, have NO idea

ANd, yes I do find it curious that a Christian School has little on its site about service, something Jesus talked about often

And I do find a place that finds it has to hide the students from what is going on in the world a little scary

Please do not assume anything about me

And do not bash those that at least care about others, while some just care about themselves

FS:
Somehow, I don’t think I need lectures on my sense of humor from a self-important teenager who thinks he/she is the latest thing since sliced bread.

Run along and play with your peers, kid. You’re out of your league.

Here is another one. A kid from my D’s high school apparently begged the guidance counselor to send his transcripts here, but she refused, saying “You are NOT going to Maharishi!”

Actually, in the past few years I have met three people who went to Maharishi University. All are now in their 40s or 50s, with graduate degrees, and have leadership roles in the TM community, as well as “straight” jobs, families, the whole shebang. Lovely people, and proud of their college experience. I don’t think Maharishi is really comparable to Pensacola Christian College.
