If you were a college admissions officer...

Also, your school may send your weighted GPA- but many colleges will recalculate it anyway to get an unweighted GPA- and some recalculate to get just an ‘academic’ GPA (taking out things such as PE).

B/c of the wild card of recruiting (no idea what level athlete you are or what their particular teams are in need of), it is impossible to predict how much of an effect it will have for you. I will say that my experience of JHU is that they seem to put more emphasis on GPA (v ACT/SAT) than many of their peer schools.

A school like JHU (very intense academically) has to look first and foremost at whether the student can do the work. SI agree that GPA is important there.

Most colleges consider the freshman year, so that won’t be helpful. And I still think many colleges will be understanding about a concussion. I think your first senior semester is going to be quite important for you. The 36 ACT is going to make them notice, and you have some strong ECs. I am not sure you should be thinking about Stanford and the like though. You haven’t given us a good idea of what enviroment you are looking for. Big, small, lots of sports, Greek Life, small classes, urban, rural, liberal, conservative, etc…

@intparent I wasn’t suggesting Stanford for her or any other kid. Every kid has to find his/her own fit and Stanford may not be a good fit for this student. I was just saying that she has many of the same activities as my child and it was her circus activities that the Stanford Admissions Officer mentioned at an Admitted Students Reception. And, I wanted to point out the reaction of all of the other kids especially because of the many phenomenal activities and achievements that were also mentioned. I wanted to encourage her to really highlight her German Wheel activity because that is something very different in her application.
