If your kid doesn't have a summer job

Great ideas! One thing I’d like her to do is organize a garage sale. She can keep the proceeds. We also have lots of books she can sell online.

I have a shocking suggestion: Why not let her enjoy the summer with her friends before she goes off to University?

Oh yeah, the dreaded summer before freshman year. It was not fun for any of us last summer. This summer we told son, having completed his freshman year, he would either be working or in summer school. He chose summer school at the local technical college. In his spare time, he’s doing a lot of yard work for us and his grandparents. Next year, I’m strongly encouraging him to stay at school and take classes and/or work. Love my son, miss him when he’s not here but it’s really hard to have a college student home on break - up all night, sleep all day, late nights, constant battles about curfews, etc. Keeping them busy is the way to go.
