IGETC completion done by?

I know for sure that UCB wants IGETC completed by the Spring semester before your Fall admission. I know this because in my Conditions on Admissions for Berkeley it clearly states that I may not attend Summer school to complete a minimum of 60 units, IGETC, or UC reciprocity (spelling might be off). Also at Berkeley, each major has it’s own minimum admissions requirement. These requirements are stated in the Berkeley catalog, and I suggest you get one or view it online (I prefer a hard copy to online files). I got one 2 years ago and was well aware of the requirements and other prerequisites I may have to take before starting the Fall semester. Make sure you also check the updates to the catalog. Check out assist.org for your school’s most recent agreements with UCLA and UCB. It states the minimum requirements for my major and any other courses you should take so you can go straight to upper division courses after transfer (no more lower division courses for me). You might want to check to see if IGETC is accepted for your major at Berkeley. IGETC is not accepted for some majors at Berkeley particularly for the ones in the College of Engineering.

I got accepted to UCLA as well, and was concerned about completing IGETC in the Summer. I made sure it was ok by asking admissions and they said that taking Summer courses will not affect my admission as long as I complete all the courses that I reported for the Spring semester. Although that didn’t quite answer my question it sounded like they didn’t care if I completed IGETC in the Summer. Of course if you can complete IGETC in the Spring semester before Fall enrollment that’s always a good thing. If you’re going to the College of Letters and Science, UCLA (and probably UCB)recommends completing IGETC before transferring. Again, check to see if UCLA or UCB accepts IGETC as satisfactory completion of their breadth requirements for your major. I hope this helps. Good luck!

P.S. I didn’t complete IGETC, but I completed all minimum requirements for my major last Fall except for English 1B. What is your intended major?
