Please?

Thanks!

But you need to remember, there aren’t just the MLB GM jobs out there. There are the Director of Minor League Operations, MLB Executives (sp?), Consultants, Marketing people, Agents, etc. There are tons of good positions in the baseball industry.

If you are interested in business, do what i’m doing. Do Sport Management and Management as a dual major. Or do a major in SM/Business, and a minor in SM/Business. This way you can pursue your dream, yet always have a backup plan.

And you may even change your major in college after you get there, so you never know.

You know, time is flying and you have to actually get some applications submitted. Crank out the Delaware, UConn, Brandeis, BU and Northeastern apps - that will give you a reasonable spread of schools that will fit your needs. Then, think about other ones.

A2Wolves6, I completely understand that. But how much money can one expect to make doing that? Also, I am not so sure I am well suited for a lifestyle of constant travel. That would hinder on my ability to have a family, settle down, etc.

Ohio_mom, thanks for the heads up! Please do not be under the impression that I have not started. I have completed the common app (What a savior!) and that is applicable to the majority of the schools on my list. Delaware was sent out a month ago, Brandeis is done, just waiting for the transcripts to get there, BU and Northeastern are common app and I have already sent transcripts, just have to finish the supplements. I started UConn and will have it done by Thursday at the latest.

I have also sent transcripts to Lehigh, CMU, Tufts, and Rutgers. The Rutgers and Rensselaer applications will go out tomorrow, while CMU, Tufts, and the majority of the rest of my apps will be completed over winter break, which conveniently (sp?) spans the week leading up to the common deadline of January 1. Hopefully, over this time, I will complete all the applications/supplements of the schools with deadlines before February 1. Then I will do Binghamton. Since I got the Delaware application in for “priority”, does that mean I will receive a decision earlier? If I recieve a decision before February 1 of yes, I will not apply to any of the schools with deadlines after February 1st other than Binghamton, as it is the cheapest school I can get into.

BTW, how are my chances at Cooper Union?

And, as always, I am extremely appreciative of every reply I receive. It is just extremely calming to know that people on the outside (with little to no bias) think I have a reasonable chance at these schools!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Jimmy -
glad your apps are in the works - you had me scared, there. Check the udel site for the meaning of priority - is sounds like it means early, but who knows what collegespeak means, exactly!

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season, and may fat envelopes in the spring!

Thanks a lot Ohio Mom!

My guidance counselor says I do not have enough safety schools. Is that true? And again, my chances at Cooper Union? I really do not want to have to prepare for the entire Physics SAT II for naught.

These things fall mighty quick…

Cooper Union is clearly looking for fit in their students. I am not familiar with what their accepted student’s profiles look like - so my tea leaves aren’t being at all useful. However, you may as well go for it with the SAT II - a good score will help you at your other schools as well!

Regarding safeties - when school starts up again, ask your GC what she would suggest. You are an expert at applying to colleges, so another one won’t be a problem. I think you are ok, but better safe than sorry.

Will do! Thanks a lot!

Thanks to all that helped out! I really appreciate it. If anyone else can comment on Cooper Union or any of my other choices, that would be great. Thanks!

Ah, Im applying to Cooper Union also.
Unfortunately, from what I’ve been told Cooper Union essentially plugs your SATs and GPA into a calculator, giving little thought to ECs, background, race, diversity, etc… Of course, I don’t know this for sure.
Best of luck to the both of us.
And stop blabbering about America’s best kept secret on cc;]
