Since headphones have been mentioned multiple times, figured I’d chime in. Both of my sons love their Sennheiser momentum headphones. They take them and use them everywhere.
If your kid is into techie gadgets look at the new Pebble Time watches so much cheaper than the Apple watches and you can write your own apps. As for the noise canceling headphones, I’m anxiously awaiting the release of the new HERE active listening https://www.hereplus.me I’ll also second the idea of a robe, DD is getting one for Christmas too;-)

My kids’ dorm rooms never could have accommodated a bean bag chair - and I ain’t paying to ship one across the country either. I’d hold off on that one.
