I'm glad our son is home from college...

Thumper – that is impressive! And, Menloparkmom – wonderful! Nothing quite so impressive here, but two sons were here for about a week, and now they are gone, and I miss them. A lot.

Our S is now 24. He packed everything up and is very thoughtful about his sister and H & I. He said he was very glad to come home for Christmas and never once complained about the 4 figures he had to pay to buy his plane ticket home, nor the awful two layovers he has to get back to his apartment & starting work just after he gets off the plane!

He says he will try to visit with us as his schedule permits when I’m in CA in February and when I might be in DC the month after. His schedule is not his own now, but it was good seeing him.

There were no less than 6 pairs of shoes, boots or slippers beloning to D1 strewn around our family room last night. How dare I ask her to pick them up! When I did take them to her room in a bag with the rest of her detrius, I noticed several dishes & glasses stacked on her bookcase and commented it would be nice if she brought them down as we were loading the dishwasher. She was offended that I was invading her space. Ugh…and she complains about her messy roommate.

Well, I can honestly say I witnessed a miracle this afternoon.

After complaining that we had no food in the house, I offered to make my son and his girlfriend an omelet. I gladly cooked it and they both ate at the counter…and he actually said it tasted good (no, that was not the miracle).

I was standing at the sink and he was at the counter, he pushes the dishes to me and I was cooking something else at the time so I didn’t move them but moved down the counter to get something. His girlfriend tells him she is going to take a shower (they just came from the beach–the weather here is beautiful) and the next thing I see is him at our sink–washing the dishes!
I started getting a bit dizzy from shock but once I regained my composure he proceed to tell me he hates doing dishes–as he put them in the dishwasher. I looked around for his girlfriend to see if he was just trying to impress her–and she had gone to take a shower. He actually made an effort, and I more than anything wanted to yell “Hallelujah” but refrained from even flinching in fear that I may never witness this activity again.

So yes, I witnessed a miracle!!
