None of the classes I took during middle school show up on my high school transcript, including Algebra 1 and Geometry.

Really? But My teacher keeps saying that it does!! And I’m getting freaked out.

Whether or not it shows up is irrelevant; the grade will not be considered.

what do you mean it won’t be considered…

A 90 will not kill you. By saying it won’t be considered, silverturtle means in the GPA or in college admissions depending on where you apply.

But just think, you have 4 years of HS, a lot more to work in. The magnitude of one 90 is small when compared to other things.

okay. Thanks so much!

I don’t get why you’re so upset over a 90… seriously I opened this thread expecting you to be talking C, D, or F territory. Don’t even worry about it. A 90 is still an A.

A couple things I noticed here…

Alg. I isn’t standard everywhere. Here, Alg. I is as advanced as you can get in 8th grade.
90 does not always equal an A. Here it’s a B. So things may be different for him.
Our GPA factors in every class we’ve taken for high school credit. Including Algebra I / English I if taken before high school. His school may be like that also.

I got an A- in algebra 1 and a B in algebra 2 in 7th grade and a B+ in precalc in 8th grade. It was at this one university program. The grades showed up on my high school transcript, but I managed to get them removed. An A- shouldn’t matter that much, even if it is on the high school transcript. I know there’s the desire to be perfect, but one A- doesn’t look “terrible” at all on the transcript, especially if it was in middle school.

Also, depending on the high school, A- is not the same as an A for grading purposes. A- is 11 on a 12-point scale for GPA at my school.

In my school, Alg 1 was semi-standard in MS. We still had buttloads in Pre-Alg 8th grade.
And a 90 being a b is insane.

Why do you say that? 93-100 is an A, and that’s a statewide grading scale. Doesn’t seem too bad to me. 85-92 is a B. 77-84 a C. 70-76 D. 0-69 F.

84 being a C is crazy. I hated that when I lived in Memphis.

A 10 pt grading scale is a lot better.
90-100 A
87-89 B+
80-86 B

etc.

Our middle school treated Alg 1, Geometry, and Algebra II/trig as middle school courses. If it is a high school course and A- shouldn’t be too bad, especially if they count it as a 4.0 as opposed to a 3.7

Most of the people took Algebra in 7th grade (70%), 25% took Pre Algebra, and the rest of us did Geometry in 7th grade. It would be nice if it was consistent for what are middle school courses, so you didn’t have to put that on your transcript (although we were supposed to get HS credit for our math courses).
