I'm taking the SAT in 2016, is it possible to drastically raise my score?

I scored a 1590 on my PSAT, this year. I’m a sophmore, and I am taking the actual SAT in March 2016. How can I raise my score to around a 2200?

I’ve now realized that this is pretty much impossible

My first practice test was about a 1750 when I was a sophomore, but I rose it to a 2180 by the end of junior year. I’m currently awaiting dec results. I’m sure it’s possible if you work hard enough for it.

My sophomore year PSAT was around a 160…junior year it was 210. I mostly just learned more about the SAT, what to expect etc, but overall, I didn’t spend ANY time reviewing math concepts or vocabulary (my Achilles heel). I’m sure if I did, I would have had a much higher score.

I think you can make it to 2200, but you need dedication. And don’t just think your score will improve because you study a lot; study smart, not more.

Thanks for the help!

Don’t worry! As long as you prepare hard, you can raise your SAT dramatically. Apparently the new SAT will be easier, at least for some, so you should be able to raise your score. I started preparing hard three weeks ago and I’ve got my SAT score from a 2080 to a 2200. It’s easier to raise it from a 1600 to 2000 compared to 2100 to 2300 so you should be fine, just study hard. :)

Thanks for the reply! I’m currently reviewing SAT questions daily and scheduling practice tests. I also plan to buy the Blue Book, as I heard that it’s pretty useful!

read my post on how I raised my score by 790 points. Hopefully it provides some useful tips.

Is it realistic to raise my SAT from 1600 to 2200 in nine months with three hours of studying a day?

Yeah why not if you can manage three hours a day. Study in the right way with the right resources.

Take lots of practice tests and take note of which types of questions you are consistently getting wrong, it will help you in your studying for the SAT. This is especially the case when you’re at the 2200 level and trying to boost it up to a 2400
