lol, GO READ ABOUT ISLAM!

why would you ask a question like this on CC. Nobody on this forum, with the exception of me:), knows the answer to your qeustion.

the existence of “god” is trivial to how you live your life. Is there any reason why you can only do good if you follow a set religion? Why must you follow one of the “established” religions? Why not create your own based on your personal beliefs. I must add a quote here:

“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”
-Steven Weinberg

I don’t think that you are ready to consider yourself an “atheist” if you are still debating whether to become one and considering that you are still thinking within the usual, set confines. You have not realized that god is merely a metaphor. For some of us, “god” is a being. For some of us, “god” is a table. For some of us, “god” is math. For some of us, “god” is ourself. Please do yourself a favor and learn to think for yourself.

Well, if you’d like to take the democratic route to choosing a religion, CC is a rather small and biased sample – you’d do better to look at the beliefs of the entire world:

[Major Religions Ranked By Size](http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html)
Christianity: 2.1 billion
Islam: 1.5 billion
Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist: 1.1 billion
Hinduism: 900 million
Chinese traditional religion: 394 million
Buddhism: 376 million
primal-indigenous: 300 million
African Traditional & Diasporic: 100 million
Sikhism: 23 million
Juche: 19 million

dude, if you think God exists, and think an organized religion is the way to go, then read about all of them and pick the one that best suits your morals and beliefs. If nothing fits, then I suppose the best thing for you is a spiritual faith rather than an organized religion.
So basically, what I’m saying is: ask around and pick what you like. If you don’t like anything, then I guess atheism is the way to go.
But none of us can convince you to do anything, you have to believe in what you’re doing in order to excell at it…

and that’s my $0.02 :D

Why?
Decide for yourself. If you really care that much, I would read as many major religious texts as you can get your hands on, books on philosophy, and spend some quality time meditating or talking to someone in a similar situation.
