Based on Mayor Lightfoot news conference this morning, everyone has to prepare for the possibility that fall quarter may start as University originally plans for but may abruptly switch to completely online if Mayor Lightfoot decides to go back to Phase 3.
According to my Excel spreadsheet, Chicago ten day average of new cases has been on the rise since July 1st and it has increase from below 200 in June to 231 today. But the state has been doing more testing. The positivity rate of the state has been hovering between 2.65% to 2.9%. I think Mayor Lightfoot is trying to alert everyone to stay vigilant and not lapse into careless behavior. Still overall the new cases number IMO is not out of control yet.
