I had a similar success story, except at a much higher score. I started at a base score of 1980 with no studying, and brought it up to a 2330.

I agree with all your tips above, but there are a couple things I would add.

-more vocab. Direct hits is good, but not enough. Memorize (making flashcards works the best) all the words in the direct hits books, hot words books, and krieger’s essential. These will be enough to get very few, if not zero, of the vocab questions wrong.

do more practice tests. I did around 17 in all (over the course of 6 weeks). The more practice tests you do, the better your score will become.

And make sure you are going over EVERY question, not just the ones you got wrong. That’s really how you get a high score increase.

you are spot on with the essay (I’m suspecting you’re actually using my guide?)
For everyone else who hasn’t seen it, here it is: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1525053-defeating-sat-essay-2-days.html

Good luck! I hope you get the score you want!
