In the airplane, keep your essentials in your pockets, not your carry-on baggage

think they want to avoid people taking jumbo fanny packs as a sneaky 3rd carry-on.

I get it, but I can fit way more in the pockets of many of my coats than I can in a fanny pack. And bulky coats are much more likely to end up taking space in the overhead bins.
