Incandescent bulb ban.

From what I’ve read, a lot of people have the same problem with the LED bulbs flashing on and off every 10 seconds or so when the light fixture has illuminated wall switches. That’s why I want incandescent. That strobe effect will make you crazy when you’re trying to sleep and it makes the bulbs last about two weeks tops.

I never could stand the humming from CFLs. We got rid of the few we had because of it. I’ve also had them burn out quick and break for no reason. They were a bad idea. The LED are expensive but I suppose when I run out of light bulbs I’ll be paying the price.

it is about the light that makes you comfortable and able to see. It is not about the difference in money. And as a family who recycles and as green as green as can possibly be (far advanced to most of the world) I still object to not having good lighting in my home and still do not like the lack of what to do with the new bulbs after they are done. I have nearly no opinions when it comes to such things but am so happy that I think I can have years with my stockpile. AND trust that when that is done something better and new will be on the market.

We had a free energy audit from our power company that included them installing some CFLs, a special power strip, etc. We already had CFLs in many places but the new ones drive me crazy! They put them in the bathroom and these bulbs take a few minutes to come up to full light. It’s so dim that I just leave them on so I don’t have to deal with it.

I like the full spectrum incandescents for reading light. CFLs aren’t as easy on your eyes and I’m not sure about LEDs. We had LED Xmas lights on our tree and I couldn’t look at them, they seem to vibrate the way CFLs do. Maybe the new ones are better? I also have an Ott light but I haven’t tried it out yet.

I can’t believe the CFLs are mandated when they contain mercury. It’s only a “small amount” but multiplied by everyone using them and very few people disposing of them properly - well, it’s a frightening scenario.
