Indecision at the Crossroads - Biomedical Engineering

Biological (rather than biomedical or bio) engineering usually has an agricultural emphasis. However, at Cornell, it appears to cover both agricultural topics and other topics, as shown at BE Advised | The place to go for undergraduate advising in biological engineering .

I don’t follow the news so I don’t know what unfaltering publicity are you referring to.
Can you give few details or a link ?

Wow
sounds interesting, more for research than the public sector.
I am wondering how many jobs are available for this area

Probably talking about the heavily publicized challenges those schools have had navigating conflicting student opinions & events around the Israel/Palestine conflict.

If you Google “antisemitism” and the names of the universities, you should find numerous articles about the prevalence of antisemitism and hate speech on those campuses. For example, Penn’s past president resigned after testifying before Congress that she believed calls for genocide of Jews and the State of Israel were protected speech at Penn; a faculty member at Cornell gave a speech right after October 7, 2023 where he said that he was “exhilarated” by the invasion of Hamas into Israel; another faculty member at Cornell stated that she believes Israel does not have “a right to exist”; a student at Cornell made numerous online threats to kill Jewish students and shoot up the Jewish dining hall at Cornell.

So, Penn = Cornell in your book, at least on that point

(Note that we don’t know whether that’d be a plus, a minus, a deal-breaker, or a non-issue for OP.)

Btw I hope any student who threatens to shoot up any college is promptly arrested and kicked out, including that one.
However I don’t think Cornell is more unsafe than other colleges wrt gun violence.
Hopefully the war in Gaza will be in the rearview mirror in September (:crossed_fingers::pleading_face:) and won’t matter to OP.

I went to UPENN For grad school, and I really did not like the urban environment. Ironically, I would have been happier at Cornell (which is beautiful) but they rejected me! Haha!

Of course, this was years ago --but your daughter needs to decide between urban and college town with an outdoorsy feel.
