Foreman race does affect culture and tradition… indians have a different culture and from this post it’s bhangra, bharatnatyam, hindi movies etc.

Yeah, I agree that race affects culture and tradition.

I’m not Indian, but I cannot get enough of Indian fooooood! Samosas, pakora, chicken tikka masala, saag, chana masala, mint chutney, vindaloo, naan, mango lassi YUMMMMMM!!

^ i’ve only had samosas, they were a little bit spicy for me

My mom totally made samosas yesterday so good…

I’m Indian! Actually telugu…
I’m a senior also & I love Indian culture. I can speak my language fluently and follow the customs. I guess I have a lot of pride :p

im indian too. but where i live there are a lottt of indians. nj! oak tree rd anyone?

i enjoy movies, 90s especially. srk was the man back then.

and about pride and looking down and stuff- I agree that indians are proclaiming theyre indian is since we are first and second genration american borns. and out parents (mine at least) are straight up indians, so we were basically born into 2 cultures. nothing wrong with that.

i predict though, that when we have kids, theyll be a lot less indian and itll jus keep gettin less and less

^ see nbafan. your theory is going to be true whether I like it or not. guess we’ve been brainwashed as we’ve been brought up.

oh well. cant do much about it.

I guess my parents are strict, but still neutral and accepting of all cultures whether they be black, jews, or even muslim so i have a diff perspective.

either way i am and always will be proud to both indian and american

Is it just me, or is there an statistically improbable number of idians at College Confidential?

Then again, I’ve seen the same at my university, so maybe that’s not too far off…

^Is it just me, or is this sentence flawed in every way possible? jkjk (I still don’t get it though…)

Gnarfn… Reading your posts made me crack up, glad I don’t consider you Indian any more (if I did I may actually have some second thoughts seeing how you would be a nice spec of black on a great culture)…
Any way…
I participate in every Indian event, speak Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi. I am quite popular in my school (No not the stereotypical snotty, snooty, snobby, sloppy and mean person) and participate in many activities. You are part of a culture, something you should feel proud of!

I feel so bad for your parents and friends.

I guess he made some ok points but he is looking at extreme cases rather than the core. Didn’t mean to bash him like that haha.

tayzonday- i agree completely with you and have been thinking about that same stuff. right now, indians are still fairly new to america, and we need to be recognzed. thats why we go crazy for kal penn in harold and kumar, crazy for slumdog, and crazy for peters.

hardworker- it definitely is. its inevitable that like someone here said that polish ppl and swedish dont go out saying what they are (which btw was my favorite post here) but indians do. i agree completely and itll die more and more

@DataBox: I meant to say there are more indians in the forum than you would expect, based on factors like the percentage of indians with internet access that would be concerned with a higher education forum which tends to carter mostly to americans, or to those studying in america.

^ I think there are many Indians in America with internet access
And I’m not surprised because Indians are into college & higher education

yesss go desi! :P

lol jaimeastorga um Indians are the richest ethnic group in America so it’s safe to assume that most of the 2.8 million of them have internet access…

@jaime…whaaaaaaaaaa?

YEAAA BROWNTOWN!!! lol im pretty american tho by standards, im not super involved in teh whole indian community though i watch the movies and know the songs and can speak hindi and shyte like that

oh and slumdog millionaire was good but not THAT good ppl need to stop raving about it like its the next Citizen Kane or something

^ I didn’t like Citizen Kane THAT much, it was ok…
And I agree, SM was good but not the best or anything
