Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Thank you. Is there any similar appeal or request form for Dual degree admissions?

How does we request someone already has Music college and do dual degree ?

Kelley in 2022 admitted a small amount of mostly female petitioners in late November 2022. And then admitted the vast majority of its class in March. Kelley wants females to attend and by admitting earlier there is access to DA day.

This year Kelley did not start reviewing any petition applications until after Nov 1 and is still working through auto-stats admit.

It is inaccurate to say that Kelley is taking a long time this year as if its unusual. Kelley takes a long time. April 14th is their due date. Every year people claim they have more applications than usual and are delayed. Every year that’s not true. Odds are it will take a long time. Be prepared.

If it’s like last year a small-ish group of mostly high-stat females will be approved and that’s it for quite some time.

You would call in your case the Music school and ask about dual degrees. You usually have to meet with an academic advisor in your chosen area.

Still waiting. OOS (NJ) Applied 10-19. Decided not to apply to Kelley. Economics major in Arts & Sciences. Hoping that helps him with admissions and we just wanted to focus on general IU admission without the petitions etc. 3.5, 1270, Varsity soccer and golf, loaded up on AP’s and Honors this year.

Good to know, many of us still waiting. Do you know of anyone who has been accepted from NJ?

Not yet, there are 3-4 from his HS who applied. All still waiting. But I think a few from NJ here on CC have been accepted.

@jefrobertson Grateful for your wisdom. Our kid was admitted pre-business. DA Petition in on Sept. 30. His stats are well above DA level, but his high school doesn’t print GPAs on the transcript, so he doesn’t qualify without review.

Kelley is a top choice and we are happy to wait patiently, even until April. My concern is that the spots will indeed all be taken and he won’t get in. Is that a scenario we should consider likely? Or if we are patient, would you think he would (as someone otherwise qualified) eventually get direct admit status?

Ok thank you!

My DD got accepted couple of weeks back. But she is into Music

Yes he did. But only late last week
?

If you are not admitted into Kelley, can you still receive admission to the school?

If not DA to Kelley, what are pre-business options realistically? Econ Major? Is applying once there realistic (assuming not).

My DS’s to-do list in the app says that he needs to setup a direct deposit account and he’s still an “applicant”. I told him he probably doesn’t need to do that yet, but now am 2nd guessing myself and don’t want to hold anything up. Has anyone else gone ahead and done this? Also, have we figured out what “application” vs. “applicant” means? Thanks for all you help and advice with this process!

Yes, through standard admission.

If Kelley is what you want there are pre-requisite classes one must take if they did not get in directly as a DA or through petition, and it has to a B or higher(not a B-)

I would also call Kelley Admissions if you can calculate an unweighted GPA from what is on the transcript if it would qualify. Kelley won’t recalculate weighted if not printed.

All reviews are not the same. In prior years, and should be the same this year, Kelley will deny some and will put others on a waiting list and will admit some Probably will do the same this year. Spots can and do “fill.” Verbally we were told the petition acceptance rate 2022 was 25%.

It’s not on a first come first served basis. Kelley does not want to admit many via review now when they say deadline to petition is 2/1. They do want to admit some primarily for direct admission days which is probably March 16/March 23 or March 23/April 6 weekends.

Yield is what IU and all colleges care about. For schools like IU, yield is increased when IU can hook you in February and March not in December and January so they concentrate activity then. That might not be true for someone individually or what everyone wants, but it’s their statistical reality. Most higher stat students right now are receiving news on reaches and initial merit accumulation and preparing RD reaches due in the next week or two based on RD/EA results, IU gets lost in that noise so they wait.

My status changed from applicant to “application”. Anyone know what this means?

Same thing here. Hopefully good news. Applied 8/11 OOS Tennessee

I have have my kid call. His unweighted is 4.0 and his ACT also qualifies, so it is clear from even a glance that he should be eligible for DA. We visited and it would be an awesome place for him (in addition to the appeal of Kelley, he is a competitive triathlete, so he LOVED the Little 500 tradition). As long as there are spots left, we are happy to wait, but I would hate for him to get shut out because we are politely being patient. I would definitely want him to have an opportunity to attend the direct admit days, but there is still plenty of time left.

Has anyone gotten a Provost’s Scholarship yet? I was a little shocked at how small it was ($1,000 per year). My son was a direct admit to Luddy in Computer Science (33 ACT, 4.3+ weighted GPA, I think about 3.8 unweighted). Also - are these stats not good enough for Hutton? Don’t really know much about Hutton, but he didn’t get any notification on that. My daughters both went to WashU, which is a different beast, so this is our first run with IU.
