Second (third?) suggestion of looking into Earlham. Very interesting, articulate kids there who seemed to love talking about intellectual and political subjects and a non-competitive atmosphere. Can I say how fast my d wanted to leave? I, however, loved it there. If your kid is very verbal, he might enjoy it. The Quaker tradition calls for lots of consensus building.

I woke up at 3am this morning thinking about this thread (yes, I probably do need professional help)…but I want to say to OP-- your son is a junior, who has time to make a big leap in stats if he likes (though there are great suggestions for a wide range of kids here). Most juniors haven’t even taken their SAT’s yet, and there’s still another semester to nudge those grades up if he wants to. (I have an A- kid who looks at me like I’m crazy when I mention this and maybe I am, but in the insane context of the college application process today, it’s got to be considered.) He sounds like he’ll do well anyway, but nothing is set in stone in the middle of junior year.

LOL, Gwen is addicted to CC, remember you can “stop any time you want.”

Here’s 2 that weren’t mentioned - Colorado College and Pitzer - too reachy?
