Intellectual vitality essay - limit?

On Stanford’s admissions website, they say the limit for this essay is 500 characters ([Essays : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University))

However, the Common App will not let you submit an essay that exceeds 2000 characters. While staying under 500 words shouldn’t be too hard, I’m finding it difficult to even get close to 2000 characters. I really like the essay I’ve come up with for this prompt and I fear having to shorten it so drastically will detriment the quality and feel of the essay.

Anything anyone can tell me about this? Thanks!

It doesn’t say the limit for the essay is 500 characters… look at the page yourself.

“Candidates respond to all three essay topics using at least 250 words, but not exceeding the space provided.”

The 500 word limit only applies to the common app essay. So you gotta listen to that form.

Oh, whoops! I mixed up which essay was which in my head, as dumb as that sounds. Thanks for pointing out my error though.
