Interdisciplinary Studies major

<p>I’m really interested in this, but also confused by it. I really want to go to a college that allows me to go into a major that combines biology and math, such as biometry, biostatistics, or bioinformatics. Emory doesn’t have this specifically, but they do have IDS. I was wondering how stringent the requirements are when doing this, and if I would be able to kind of create my own major which would be a mix of those. On the website it ways you are required to do a concentration in one of the following:

  1.        IDS: Interdisciplinary Humanities

  2.        IDS: Interdisciplinary Critical Studies

  3.        IDS: Science and Society

  4.        IDS: Intercultural Studies

  5.        IDS: Visual Studies and Contemporary Culture

  6.        IDS: Race and Difference Studies

  7.        IDS: Culture, Society, and Public Scholarship&lt;/p&gt;

<p>And while I would rather not have to do this, I would be fine with taking a 2 or 3 random classes if it would allow me to create my own major in something else. If I chose the IDS program, what would I have to do?</p>

<p>Why don’t you ask Admissions directly? There’s nothing like demonstrating interest …</p>
