Normally, whats published on the paper is a minimal requirement that most schools do not follow in reality, due to competitions. This is an interesting twist on Toledo’s BS/MD program. The key issues there will be:
- How many BioE students will be admitted. Normally BS/MD program do not accept a lot of students, some in the single digits, for example, Lehigh/Drexel, some more, like Brown or Northwestern. No matter, the number is not huge. But if this BioE takes in 100 to 200 students, it can't possibly accept all in to their med school.
- Toledo SOM normally has an average acceptance GPA of 3.7, it will be unfair for some one in their own school to be accepted in to the med school with just a GPA of 3.5, we shall see if the "interview" or weed out class is going to do the trick of reducing that group of BS/MD to a manageable number, like 10-20% of accepted SOM students. If so, that BS/MD program is meaningless in the sense most of the students will not be advanced anyway.
