International honors program

*UA has agreements with some schools where the student pays whatever tuition they normally would be charged at UA, oftentimes directly to UA and UA in turn pays the other school’s tuition for you. *

And, as I understand it, the agreement for many schools is the instate rate, so if a student gets an OOS scholarship, he really is in a good situation because he can use the difference for board and other travel expenses. Makes me wish we were OOS. LOL

^i thought you were from CA, m2ck

for some summer programs with a “fee”, do scholarships cover the tuition portion of the fee?

haha i have so many questions…perhaps i should start emailing people from the university again

The tuition portion of Alabama Action and Outdoor Action is deducted from the credits your scholarship will cover in the fall semester. For example, if you plan on taking 15 credits fall semester and want to do Alabama Action or Outdoor Action, your fall semester bill will reflect charges for 16 credits, all of which would be covered by a scholarship. The $200 is basically a lab fee.

m2ck is from CA, but currently lives in AL.

haha no i was asking about study abroad…it was nice to know that though :)

lol, I was wondering why the topic turned from study abroad to Alabama Action.

If you wanted to use your tuition scholarship for a summer program, it would use up a semester of your scholarship. I don’t think that UA-operated summer study abroad programs are treated like summer school in that a tuition scholarship only covers the tuition portion because all the UA-operated programs seem to be priced at course fee+airfare, without any itemization. I’d assume that the dollar value of a tuition scholarship could be used towards the program cost, but it would use a semester of your scholarship. One good thing with UA-operated programs versus those at other universities is that there are no OOS charges for summer study abroad. Now if UA could waive or at least lower OOS fees for on-campus summer courses, that would be nice.

The study abroad scholarships do cover summer study abroad programs.

thank you! you’ve been very helpful. ill look more into this.
