Dear @HKtiger , most colleges require 2 subject tests but I will be taking 3, I was just hoping to submit the best scores so like if I get 750 in all, do you mean to say that I ought to submit the other 2 instead of Chinese? Thank you

Not all colleges have ScoreChoice (which allows you to pick which SATs to submit). If they don’t then you have to submit all of them. I’d say just leave Chinese behind, they probably couldn’t care less.

Hi @aabyrinth actually, I am the same generation as you are. I am on a gap year right now, but will be starting Harvard next year.

Well, basically I want to give some advices for you. First of all, don’t worry too much about being accepted into Harvard or another Ivy’s big three ( like Yale or Princeton). There are too much applicants around the world, mostly from highly competitive countries, especially from China( or Hong Kong like you). Thats why selectivity mostly look like Russian roulette, but only with one bullet . So, my first advice is pretty simple, just do well on your SAT I and SAT II, and apply to all Ivy’s. Yes, this very obvious, but still work
Secondly, try to focusing on your extra-activities, not quantity, but quality. What you wrote on the first page its really fascinating, that’s why choose something what you can explain with soul ( something what you proud it and etc) in essay. Try to look on Princeton essays, there are pretty interesting topics, much more better than for Harvard college.
Finally, be very close with your counselor and teachers, who will write recommendations for you, just try to use example from here: <a href=“How to write good letters of recommendation | MIT Admissions”>http://mitadmissions.org/apply/prepare/writingrecs .
Good luck!

@Ar4ybaldik thank you for your advice, I know the risky situations but there really is no harm trying. I’ll dig into the examples, I actually bought those books about college essays already haha. Thank you very much indeed :)

@mshang852 I see, sorry for misinterpreting. Thank you again for letting me know, I know the chances are slim but its good to know that there is a live example just in front of me I hope I enter, too, because if I do maybe I get to see you in person and thank you personally for giving me hope. If not, it’s ok, I still wanna thank you. Wish you all the best :)
