Piedmont itself, or the Piedmont Avenue area? Totally different places. Glad she won’t be in Dublin which is too suburban even for me! Also, BART doesn’t run very late, even on weekends, so she would have to be even more careful on excursions to The City so as not to get caught. No doubt Uber/Lyft would cost a fortune going all the way to Dublin.
Starting Independence Day weekend, SF Mime Troupe has free* performances in various parks. *free to enter, but they collect donations as you leave. Not mime as in pantomime, but very SF lefty theater, with some years better than others.
Have her subscribe to Goldstar.com for discounted and comp tix to various performances, tours, events, etc.
Oakland has become quite a foody heaven. Lots of farmers markets all over.
Ah, Piedmont Ave. area. Piedmont Grocery is nice, even to cruise the aisles for unusual gourmet stuff, plus I think they still have the olive bar and cheese samples. Across from the movie theater, there’s an ice cream place with unusual flavors if Fentons is too tame and too crowded.
…I didn’t contribute earlier because my information is dated… as in 30 years dated! LOL! We bought our first house in Oakland, on Valle Vista Avenue, 1 block off Grand Avenue and a few blocks from Piedmont, which is a separately incorporated city entirely inside of Oakland. Lake Merritt a few blocks in the other direction. We were very happy there! Got married in the rose garden a few blocks from home. It was a great area then, and I presume it still is pretty great. Bought the house from an NFL player, sold it years later to a rock and roll legend. or did you mean nearby Piedmont Avenue? Where we bought our piano (Piedmont piano) and frequented Harvey Klar’s auctions.
Well Im back!! I absolutely love the Piedmont Ave area, my daughter is within walking distance of everything she could possibly need.

[]I was not prepared for the weather! San Fran is COLD!!!
[]The shopping was fantastic
[]Everyone was SO nice! Ive traveled quite a bit, and I must say I dont think Ive ever met nicer folks. I mean, every single establishment had fantastic customer service. The midwest(or at least where I live) is lacking in that area.
[]I dont get the Fentons hoopla, it was just okay.
[li]I love cities with good public transportation options.[/li][/ul],
Too bad it is so expensive there, because I really think I could live in the area. My nest will be empty this fall, and we are looking to relocate.
Nice to hear from you, @partyof5. Glad to hear you had a nice trip. Don’t worry about being shocked by SF weather. It happens to EVERYONE. (Even to those of us who should know better.)
Don’t even think to mention weather, since it’s on our desktops, laptops, iPads, and smartphones. But I, too, should know better since my wife will ask daily “What’s the weather going to be like” to which I’ll reply “Honey let me press your mouse button”, or “let me tap that icon for you…”
San Francisco is known for June gloom! Spring and Fall are the warmest seasons. Welcome home.
