Interview suits?

JS, DS was advised to avoid red “power ties” and gravitate toward a navy stripe or yellow field with small accent pattern.

Thanks, worrywart! The whole tie thing-- foreign to me – who knew there were subtle power issues re: them? (I guess you & Brooks Brothers did!)

Certainly not I; that’s why I took DS to an “expert.” At the moment, he’s on his first business trip for one of the two companies that extended an offer that day.

My favorite tie, but I don’t think I’d wear it to a job interview: [ThinkGeek :: The ThinkGeek ‘Ties Suck’ Tie](http://www.thinkgeek.com/apparel/hats-ties/57ff/)

For a female going on an interview, I recommend a skirted suit if you can find one with a skirt that is no shorter than just above the knee. And that is no matter what full-time job you are interviewing for or what the employees wear. Wearing a suit shows that you take the interview seriously and is a gesture of respect for your potential employer.
A pant suit is okay, but a skirted suit is more conservative. A coordinating blazer and skirt are almost as good. With a tweed skirt, wear a solid blazer that matches the darkest color in the tweed. A jewel-neck short-sleeved sweater or dressy tee-shirt underneath the jacket looks good without the fussiness of a collared-shirt.
I frequently find nice suits for cheap at Marshalls. Or, I would head to an outlet center and find the most expensive store there. If you can swing it, wait for Talbots to have a semi-annual sale and pick up a good suit at a great price. Last suggestion: go to a rich community and look for a consignment shop. You are guaranteed to find some nice interview clothes there.
Lastly, Make sure you wear closed-toed shoes that are as dark or darker than your suit, unless it’s summertime. If you can afford only one pair of interview shoes, buy black pumps or dress loafers.
Good luck!

Bought son a tweed designer sports jacket, just gorgeous at Salvation Army this week. Also two silk ties for $2 apiece, and a cheap buff colored dress shirt. The jacket was only about $7 cuz it was half price Wednesday.
