iphones:buy now or wait or?

Son has an iphone and loves it. One device. He really needed some kind of navigation system, plus a new phone, plus he wanted a new ipod or blackberry. This seemed like the best compromise (it doesn’t have the navigation system, but he can get onto googlemap if he gets lost). He can also use it to scope out the DOT website for potential traffic problems.

It didn’t cost us any more per month because we already had a family plan, and I deleted my internet access service and add it to his (I never used it). Turned out to be a wash.

Son loves using it over the internet. At home he uses the wireless and it is great–even easier than going to the desktop computer. H was talking to his PA sister and trying to explain tri tip. So I said to kid-look up tri tip to explain to your aunt.

College and fraternity house are wireless-so he is eager to check it out there. H had him checking the traffic yesterday and it was helpful.

Well, S was floored yesterday to get the iPhone. He absolutely loves it. Had a great time showing the various cousins Utube videos on it last night after dinner. And he took some great Christmas photos and emailed them instantly to various home email accounts. He is just delighted with this computer in a pocket idea. I am just praying that he doesn’t drop it too hard or leave it somewhere. He’s been using an “old brick” of a cell phone for years… one that nobody would take if they saw it lying around and that could fall 2 stories and probably not crack… this is a LOT different, and I really hope he takes care of it because there is no insurance available, like there is with other AT&T phones/plans. But it is one of those rare things in life that becomes cooler the more one uses it. Now I want one!
