GET THE BIGGER ONE no matter what. Look on eBay for possible discount.

I got my daughter a mini last year…she loves it. Wears it at the gym, uses it to download songs she wants to work on etc. We got ours with the educational discount direct through the ipod store.

onsale.com has ipod nanos, minis, 4th gen, photo and video ipods for Christmas delivery.

Each comes with free (after rebate) case and fm transmitter (for playback over radio)

As a family who’s bought 5 IPODS (don’t ask), the 30G is the one to buy for a college student. $300. Everyone’s happy (except for the writer of the check).

4 ipods plus 4 non-ipod mp3 players here, some that go back to the days of massive 64mb of memory!

And a big thumbs down of the shuffle, exxcept purely for random compilation mixes.

Any IPOD’ers.

Has anyone purchased one of the FM Transmitters (for use with an IPOD).

you to play a song on the IPOD in your car, the FM Transmitter ‘device’ which is attached to the IPOD, then outputs the song in an FM frequency, that you can then pick up on your car stereo, and play via your car stereo system.

My son has the newer 30gig 5Gen IPOD, and wants to purchase an IPOD FM Transmitter that works. There are several models that are made. But the reviews are quite mixed as to which ones really work.

Has anyone actually tried one, and found that it works? Thanks

Many models available:

I think you can have someone wire your pod to directly go through your speakers- that works much better- ask at a Cartoys type place that does dash installations

My d has the i-trip mini (made by griffin) which is pretty low cost and it works great. But, I would recommend you get one that charges the ipod battery while you are plugged and playing in the car. (The i-trip doesn’t charge.) It isn’t recommended that you charge ipods on laptops so it’s nice to have another convenient charging option.

D also has a tower style speaker from Sharper Image that has something called ‘i-connect’ which is basically a dock for her nano/mini. It charges while playing and the speaker is quite good (subwoofer/tweeters). And it is perfect for college because it takes up minimal floor space.

( I just saw The inside man- one of the first movies Ive noticed to have an ipod and speakers featured as a gadget)

lovetocamp - I bought my sister an FM Transmitter for her CREATIVE LABS however I’m sure it works with IPOD’s too. It works pretty well in her Civic. She also uses it around the house to broadcast music in multiple rooms - we just set our stereo’s to the same station.
