Is 4 years of a foreign language equivalent to earning 4 high school credits for college admissions? [AP level (highest level offered) taken in 10th grade]

In the OP’s case, lot will depend on the major but unless it’s a foreign language, AP in any subject, especially if it’s the last course the high school offers, you should be fine.

If you have exhausted the language at your HS, you are going to be ok for sure.

If you have finished AP/year 4 honors or somethng), you are going to be OK if you take another “real” class in lieu of language in its place (a real history/social science, math, real science, english etc - don’t slack)

Note, ALWAYS exceptions…to every general guidance - UCs are often weird, for instance. Cal Poly Slo has some weird things.

While true, to be clear, OP meets their foreign language requirements if they’re considering those universities

And SLO is one of the few that will give recognition for doing another language in high school rather than most which like everything to be same language.

Two years of the same language, other than English, are required and American Sign Language is acceptable. We recommend four years of a language — after two years of the same language are complete, other languages are accepted. Cal Poly will give consideration for coursework taken in seventh and/or eighth grade.
