Is a burned pot safe to use?

Thanks, over30. I hadn’t thought of baking soda.

bethievt said: “I just texted him and he said the smoke detector was ok because they had recently set it off. That’s reassuring.”

I guess it’s nice to know it works… but it wouldn’t reassure me that he had set it off!

studentengineer is not the only person that read the title wrong the first time! I thought, why are they asking about pot on this forum?

make that another person who read it as ‘burned pot-safe’ and thinking that’s an interesting question to ask on this forum, in addition to the mental images of a ‘pot safe’!

Well, that tells us a lot about Cafe denizens!

Since I set off our smoke alarm regularly, I can’t say much about that. At least they were in the apt to hear it.

I wonder if any of the boys will actually have the fortitude to scrub off the black char in the pot? He will need a heavier-than SOS metal scouring pad. Or he can try oven cleaner, which will soften the black, but he needs to wash the lye-based solution off carefully afterwards.
