<p>Um what happens if it doesn’t recover, I guess most stocks can’t sink any lower.</p>
<p>people acting in their own self-interest UNCHECKED (reckless lending, borrowing, spending) is what caused this problem and people acting in their own self-interest NOW (saving not spending but who can blame them) is prolonging the problem. no?</p>
<p>Every country is a capitalist/socialist hybrid. Anything else is anarchy, whether that results in pure capitalism or pure communism.</p>
<p>The United States isn’t a purely capitalist nation. Which is good. There does need to be *some<a href=“as%20limited%20as%20possible”>/i</a> government involvement and regulation. I think that the current legislative solutions to the downturn are taking it way too far - over $1.2 trillion in government spending. In any case, ANY economy is going to naturally fluctuate between prosperity and recession. We had a LONG period of prosperity (about 15 years), so it’s only natural that we’re going to get hit hard with recession now. Once we come out of it, the economy will be booming again. And so on and so forth, ad infinitum.</p>
