Is anyone still watching Glee?

I think I watched it once or twice. Never really got it. Saw part of an episode this season. I do think it would be a much better show if the older characters moved on and they started with new people every season.

But, learned what jumping the shark is because of the show. New to me. Always fun to learn a new phrase.

abasket, sorry: he is back. Apparently…

Thanks Consolation - I ended up just googling the info myself!!!

I was a bigtime fan for the first two seasons but have since stopped watching. The story just got too ridiculous and I really only listen to the music now.

I agree that last week it jumped the shark. The runaway bride, Sue showing up in a wedding dress, the constant appearance of characters who have moved away and all the hook-ups just did not ring true at all. I actually do kind of like the New York storyline, but I think they’ve wrecked the high school story.

I still watch it, but I think they should move the whole show to New York. I have very little interest in the new high school characters. I think the show also uses some stuff that makes it make no sense to a casual viewer. It can be very heightened reality, over-the-top, like a musical, and it uses magical realism and a ridiculous amount of meta and breaking the fourth wall. Has anyone seen the New Normal? That’s Ryan Murphy’s new show that is based on his own life – it’s about a gay couple named Bryan and David, and Bryan is the show runner for a show called Sing, which stars an actress named Clea, who plays a character named Rochelle. I think it’s hilarious, but that’s how Ryan Murphy’s brain works.

Soozie, her’s an interview with Ali where she says that she might be back in the future but it’s unconfirmed: [Glee Season 4: Will Glee Project?s Ali Stroker Be Back? ? Exclusive - Glee](http://www.wetpaint.com/glee/articles/glee-season-4-will-glee-projects-ali-stroker-be-back-exclusive?rand=70733&utm_campaign=vrl&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=twu-glee)

It’s so cool that she’s your daughter’s friend. I was rooting for her to win this year, but I wanted her to play Kristin Chenoweth’s character’s daughter. Anyway, I think she’s great, and I was really excited to see her on. I think they might have had somebody who didn’t win before on as a background actor but this is the first time they gave someone who wasn’t a winner an actual speaking part.

I think they were too afraid to let the older cast graduate and leave the show. It now is weird that these kids are hanging out in hs. I heard originally he was going to constantly rotate the cast as they graduated but then he chickened out.

Either spin off the NY storyline to it’s own show or drop it completely.

And I hate watching it with my d now - with all the “experimentation” going on, hopping into bed or the back of cars, falling in love with a gay character. What ever happened to the premise of the geeky glee kids accepting themselves and their quirks?

Not to mention Finn looks every one of his 30 years as does Puckerman. Creepy and gross.

Exactly!..

eireann,
Thanks for that link. Maybe Ali will be on again, which would be nice for her. I don’t care to watch this show but would watch if Ali is on. Ali is very talented (wish they’d let her sing on the show) and overall, just a really great young woman. She is one of my D’s closest pals and I’ve seen her perform many times, along with my daughter. I’m glad more people are coming to know of her talents. I believe she will make great strides in the performing arts world.

I stopped watching when it went up against Person of Interest; we don’t have a DVR and POI is the one show that I can’t get online or OnDemand. Each week I read the first couple of pages of posts about Glee on TWOP and generally am relieved to know I’ve dodged a bullet.

We gave up on Glee awhile ago.

Soozie - I just happened to turn to it last Thursday and saw your D’s friend Ali who I had seen on the Glee project. Was so happy she got to be on Glee and hope it gives her some more exposure!

Not true. Alex Newell, who is playing a transgender called “Unique” was a runner-up. He has actually become quite a regular on the show and is doing great. Ryan Murphy did declare this season, though, that there would only be one “winner”…and he certainly did back up a bit on that by giving Allie the spot. I am so glad he did!

I agree the show is completely unrealistic and if I had young teens I would not watch. I still do watch, however, for the choreography and music. Even the stories, at times, are kind of fun. Not so much recently, though. I do hope Allie comes back.

I think last year (I didn’t watch last year), they named the runners-up “winners” as well but said they were guaranteed two episodes instead of seven. They were very clear that they were not doing that this year, though, which is one reason that I was thrilled and surprised to see Ali.

I was happy to see that Alex got to stay, though, while Rory went back to Ireland. I think Rory is more of a singer than an actor, but I think Alex has done a fabulous job. Unique is pretty much the only new cast member that I care about (Ryder, Jake, Marley and Kitty completely bore me).

I’m an enormous fan of Chris Colfer, and will probably continue to watch as long as he is on. If anybody is interested, his movie, Struck By Lightning, is currently available On Demand from most cable providers. It’s an indie film that he wrote about a high school student who blackmails his classmates to get into the college of his dreams (Northwestern) and in the process learns something about living in the moment and not in the future. It’s pretty good and stars Rebel Wilson, Christina Hendricks, Allison Janney, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Hyland, and Chris. Dark humor – very snarky funny. Preview here:

It’s a very very different character from Kurt Hummel and supposedly based on Chris’ own high school experience but he says Carson is what he wished he could be because he stood up to people and told everyone what he thought.

I think Glee Project is more entertaining than Glee.

I think Alex Newell is wonderful, and bringing him on corrected the mistake they made by picking Rory in the first place. Rory is nice, but not up to the challenge.

I forgot to watch tonight as it just is not my habit to turn on a TV. Was Ali on ?

It’s on hiatus for three weeks.
