Is Emory my safety?

Haha, wish you best of luck!
Nah, I am unique, I know that.
But my objective stats are,… mediocre?

Thanks once again for your compliment, but really, I am not that good =D

By top LACs, you mean UCLA, U Berkeley,…etc?
What do you mean by sketchness?
Please clarify.

Liberal Arts Colleges: Swarthmore, Amherst, Williams etc. Really amazing institutions for undergraduate educate, but much smaller environments (smaller than my high school) which I don’t like.

Apparently, it is the tendency of WashU to initially waitlist many students with high stats. that may indeed be admitted to more selective/higher ranked institutions. Emory may do this as well, but it is not notorious for doing it. Only WashU has that reputation. I also remember hearing about WashU doing other weird things to perhaps push down the admissions rate and improve the yield, but I forget what they are. Perhaps someone else here can elaborate on such rumors.

^^^ They waitlist everyone, not just people they think will get into better schools. I haven’t met a single person who hasn’t been either waitlisted or accepted to WashU. No one gets rejected.

Do yourself a favor and apply to at least one college outside of the top 20-30.

The admissions process is an unpredictable black box. Better to spend some extra time/money on 1 additional app than be pompous and end up screwed.

I don’t think ANY top 20 could be a “safety” even though your stats are spectacular. Yes, your stats will allow you to get in Emory without much hindrance at all, but then do yourself a favor and apply at least one in the 20~30th ranking category

Meh, nobody gets admitted by hi-stats these days, unless u get something like a gold medal in IMO.

If you have to ask if it’s a safety…then it’s probably not. Based on your stats, seems like more of a match to me.
