Yeah that’s the thing to do, just write a list of interchangeable professors for each class you plan to sign up for. It’s kind of like a rubix cube until you settle down with a set schedule, just keeps changing!

Ah but other than that…as far as signing up for classes go… yeah just bring what you think you need.

Set up like Schedule Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, et cetera!
And make sure to research the professors if you get the time. MyEdu and RateMyProf may not always be completely reliable but they’re not far from it! That way if you run into a professor from the underworld, you’ll know to definitely not sign up for them.

Also - Have the phone numbers of your advisors written down too just in case you have any questions or need them to help you get into a class. You can find their numbers on your college department’s website if you just fiddle around for a little bit!

Okay so I’ve been looking through all the classes offered for Fall 2011, and I see about 99% of the UGS classes have been closed already. If they are all completely full & closed by the time I get to orientation, does that mean I have to wait until the spring semester to take a UGS? I guess it doesn’t really matter when I take the UGS course, but what if it’s the same deal with a class that’s actually important for my major? For instance, I plan on majoring in biochem and graduating earlier, so there’s a science sequence that must be followed precisely. But what if all the intro bio classes are full? I can’t afford to wait until the next semester to take it like I can with UGS!

They save spots for each orientation session. Even though it says “closed”, there are still spots open you just have to pounce on them at the right time.
Don’t worry about classes for your major, you should easily be able to sign up for those. There will be plenty of open bio classes, but the proff you want may not be open.

Thanks Pinata, that sort of relieves my worries. So once it’s time for me to register at orientation, some classes that are currently listed as “closed” may open up again?

Sasha2014 I just got a schedule similar to this! I have no classes earlier than 11am Fridays off and one class on wednesday:) I’m glad to know that you liked it, so hopefully I will too!:))

It’s possible if you get lucky. For this fall I had one huge block from 11-2pm MWTTHF. It was beautiful to look at, but then I decided to add microeconomics to my schedule. Now I have this little outlier from 3-4pm on MWF. Good luck to you.

oh okay. I just tried to get the codes for an hour.
However, the majority of classes were closed!

and a lot of them were waitlisted. So what does that mean?
Also, since most of the classes are closed, what do i do? Like what if i choose a class, and the professor’s rating on websites is terrible?
