If you are completely willing to go to college elsewhere, you do not need a US safety. And as for the calculation re: statistical chance of getting into one school, remember that the chances at each school are independent, so no, you don’t have a 68% chance of getting into one. For admission rates in the single digits, your chances at each school are in the single digits. If you are full pay (as many of these may require, consider applying ED to one of them. That will increase your chances there.
Statistical probability is not your strong point.
It is the list itself that is striking some posters as arrogant, I think. We wouldn’t recommend that a domestic student with your stats move forward with this list – and admissions more competitive for international students. If you have the money to pay, it is confusing why you would not manage your risk and add some schools that aren’t really high reaches for everyone.
I wonder why you asked the question. You don’t seem to want to hear that if you really want to go to school in the US, it would be prudent to add a couple safeties.
Maybe just one safety would help a long way (it doesn’t have to be a bad school but maybe even something like NYU) if you are dead set on an American college.
